Cinema Returns to Saudi Arabia, AMC Theatres Screens “Black Panther”
April 19, 2018 – Saudi Arabia’s first movie theater in over three decades was officially launched with the private showing of the global hit “Black Panther”. The Missouri-based AMC Theatres opened its doors to over 500 invited guests, executives, and officials, while public screenings will begin on May 1, 2018. AMC’s latest theater is in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District and is the company’s first of 40 planned cinemas across the Kingdom during the next five years. By 2030, Saudi Arabia is expected to operate more than 350 theaters and over 2,500 screens, with an additional goal of increasing Saudi spending on domestic cultural and entertainment activities from 2.9 of household expenditure to 6 percent.
